CREATING TEAMS
It's amazing how a bit of paint and personalisation, or a good decal, can alter the feeling of your game. Nothing against those who enjoy the traditional look of subbuteo teams... but for us, it's so much more enjoyable when the team looks authentic or reminds you of a certain side. It is a personal preference, but one we love very much, and in terms of creating the show, it adds that little bit of magic to the games.
For ease of this collection, we will not be putting up any of our standard teams such as la laggenda, hasbro originals or zeugo standard painted teams. Instead, we'll show only the ones we've customised personally.
FULLY DECALED TEAMS - ENGLAND
Any work by Chris always looks top dollar, and then Dave does the odd full decal as well, but more often than not he takes the shortcut... more on that later. Here's our collection of fully decaled English teams.
HALF DECALED TEAMS - ENGLAND
What is a "half decal"?! Well... Dave loves a good shortcut! Essentially, if you get a regular figure and paint a white vest on it, then stick the back and front of the shirt on, it gives the team a real pop. Alternatively, if it's a u-paint team, then paint the shorts, socks, sleeves and boots, then stick the shirt on as a vest again to get the main design of the shirt. If you find decals fiddly, it can be a great way to jazz up your team without being as fiddly.
Custom Paints
Whether painting a team from scratch to emulate that one kit you've always been fond of, or editing a standard figure to look like your favourite side or kit for a particular team, or even creating lower league teams or fantasy teams like Dynamo Nubbins and Chubbins Athletic... custom painting is always great fun!
